Everything You Need to Know About BMW Oil Changes

For over a century, BMW vehicles have been the embodiment of power and luxury. Any BMW owner would be more than happy to tell you what an amazing experience it is to be behind the wheel of such an incredible machine.

However, as with all cars, your BMW needs to be properly maintained to always perform at its best. Routine oil changes are an essential component of any vehicle maintenance plan.

The BMW repair experts at A&M Auto Repair Bellevue in Bellevue, Washington, are here to explain everything you need to know about luxury car oil changes.

BMW Oil Change 101

You should be getting your BMW car’s oil and filter changed every 15,000 miles or so. Most BMW cars will let you know they’re due for an oil change, thanks to a nifty little reminder light on the dash.

However, if you’ve put off getting an oil change for quite some time, your BMW will warn you in other ways, including:

  • A rise in the engine temperature gauge if the engine overheats
  • An illuminated check engine light

If you notice any of these red flags, book a service appointment at A&M Auto Repair Bellevue right away.

The BMW Oil Change Process

After you’ve booked an appointment at our shop, our BMW repair technicians will drive your car onto one of our ramps. We will then remove the oil cap, drain plug, and filter housing and allow all of the old oil to drain out. We will also change the oil filter and o-rings at this time.

Once finished, we’ll screw on the oil filter housing and secure the drain bolts. We will then pour in the proper amounts of manufacturer-recommended oil as recommended by your BMW owner’s manual.
